I have written before how Big Government always fudges the numbers to keep the population from running through the streets with pitchforks and torches. I am always amazed by Big Government's propensity to always tell us that "...it's better than it could be"... and that is all the the unemployment rate really tells us. With unemployment this has been happening since the early 1970s. I commented about a New York Times article on these anomalous a few months ago on my blog; RealityIsTruth.org. To find reality you have to look at the "EMPLOYMENT" numbers not the unemployment numbers. Here is what the BLS reported this week (these numbers are for workforce aged citizens):
- 6.5 million lost their jobs in September (WOW)
- 8.6 million people in September wanted full-time jobs but are working part-time because that is all they can find.
- 88.7 million working age Americans whose status is unknown because they are not counted primarily because they are not taking unemployment checks from the government. Many have been unemployed for more than 99 weeks, as many as 11.5 Million.
The administration is saying that 873,000 new jobs were created in September... well yes but 582,000 were part-time
jobs filled by people who need full-time work and they fail to mention the 2.6 million folks who have stopped looking. Just in the last 3 months the number of people who have dropped out of the job market has gone from 9.6 million in July to 11.3 million in September. That is not a downward trend!
Let that sink-in there are 90 MILLION working age Americans whose status is simply unknown and literally do not count to our Big Government
. The strangest thing of all is that it's this group of people that Obama makes the most promises to and they are the ones who vote for him in the greatest numbers. These are the ones who are most receptive to the "soak the rich" refrain. But yet Big Government does nothing really to help these people.
Lastly and truly the most important measure ... The Realty Is: .... there are 10 million fewer full-time jobs in America today than there were in 2009 when Obama took office and that my friends is NOT a decrease in unemployment.
